Well, my learning project has finally come to an end! When I first started this project, I was super excited because becoming a better cook has been a goal of mine for a long time. However, I was somewhat nervous to proceed with this project idea because I also hate cooking… BUT don’t worry! This project has taught me to love cooking and I don’t completely dread it now. Here were some of the highlights from the project: Continue reading The End of a Project…

The Finale: Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
For the final week of cooking for my learning project, I had one thing left to accomplish… I wanted to pool together all the skills and confidence I have gained with cooking to make my family a turkey dinner (the turkey was too frozen so I ended up making a whole chicken… basically the same thing). I decided to make roast chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn, and carrots. Here is how it went: Continue reading The Finale: Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Chocolatey Snack in 5-minutes!
This week, I was craving something chocolatey, but also something sweet. It was one of those weeks were I was constantly on the go and did not have a ton of time to cook an elaborate dessert. So I did some research and came across chocolate covered strawberries. This involves exactly two recipes and was done in 5 minutes. Perfect for a busy day! I used my google home assistant to guide me through melting the chocolate. The rest was pretty straight forward. Check out the video to see how it went: Continue reading Chocolatey Snack in 5-minutes!
Date (or self-love) Night Dinner
Hello everyone! It has been a minute since I hopped on here. Last time I updated you all on my cooking progress, Valentines day was fast approaching. Since I hate the crazy Valentines Day crowds, I decided to save some money and make dinner at home. My partner and I absolutely love steak, so I decided to make him a steak dinner for the first time ever. THIS. IS. A. BIG. DEAL. Steak is the one thing I am absolutely terrified of cooking. It is expensive and once you mess it up, there is no going back. Here is how it went: Continue reading Date (or self-love) Night Dinner
Basic Stir-Frying
This week, I made a yummy chicken stir fry. For majority of the recipe, I followed the video “How to Make an Easy Chicken Stir-Fry” by Chowhound on YouTube.
However, I did make a few changes…

Baked Spaghetti Squash? Yes, please!
This week, I expanded my horizons and tried something a bit more complicated than muffins. I am not going to lie, I was 100% certain that this was going to end up a complete disaster BUT it actually turned out pretty good. Yay!! Check out the process of making baked spaghetti squash with homemade tomato meat sauce (lengthy I know): Continue reading Baked Spaghetti Squash? Yes, please!
These Muffins are Bananas!
To kickstart my learning project, I decided to make healthy banana muffins using a recipe I read on Gimme Some Oven‘s blog. When I came across this blog, I was very excited. There are lots of great recipes that are all very healthy. Here is how the process went:
STEP ONE: Get the necessary ingredients. I was able to find all of these ingredients at Superstore. For me, going to the store was easiest but if this isn’t an option for you, you can actually shop online so they are ready to be picked up here. Continue reading These Muffins are Bananas!
The Plan: Learning to Cook
What is one basic skill that everyone should know? Cooking. I believe that this is an essential skill to live a healthy life. Therefore, for this particular project, I have decided to teach myself the skill of cooking.
I know what you are probably thinking… If cooking is a basic skill, why are you teaching yourself how to do it? Well, truth be told, I am not exactly talented when it comes to cooking. Sure I can make the basic, easy recipes like 10-minute rice and pre-made pizzas; but one can only live off of rice and pizza for so long. So here is the plan: Continue reading The Plan: Learning to Cook
